2012 Fantasy Football: Players on the Rise

John Rieger - US PRESSWIRE
Pre-season allow for many changes of positions, injuries, and updates to depth charts.  Here are a number of players who's value is on the rise that should be targeted in your drafts.

Russell Wilson (QB, SEA) - Flynn will now back up Russell Wilson who proved to be an outstanding QB during the pre-season.  He is going to be special and has tons of upside.  I highly recommend stashing him on your bench, but don't do something too crazy when you drop a player.

Cedric Benson (RB, GB) - Benson takes the reigns in Green Bay and the team is excited.  Benson is going very late in fantasy drafts, but is going to have tons of upside for 2012.  Benson finds a way to make fantasy numbers work and tends to prove the doubters wrong.  Green Bay should hold the lead in many games and turn to Benson to kill the clock.  I like the garbage time rushing yards.

Doug Martin (RB, TB) - New starter in Tampa Bay, but I have already been telling you that.  He is extremely talented and is the safest rookie selection at RB.  He should do well in PPR leagues as well and should find the endzone.  Combo yards should hit around 1,000 and near double digit TD's for 2012.

Evan Royster (RB, WAS) - ok, Alfred Morris is the big name right now in Washington, BUT it's going to be Royster who is the weekly starter as long as he is healthy.  Keep an eye on Alfred Morris, but the one to have on your bench is Royster.

Kenny Britt (WR, TEN) - Britt is falling so late in drafts and in some cases is sitting on your waiver wire right now.  He is worth a bench spot, but not a week 1 starting spot.  He is an easy one to grab and see if he has upside.

Brandon LaFell (WR, CAR) - Cam Newton make LaFell relevant.  Steve Smith will be on the field and will draw double coverage.  It won't be surprising to see LaFell rack up some yards on drives where Steve Smith is drawing coverage.

Greg Olsen (TE, CAR) - Olsen is my favorite later round target and he allows me to attack RB's early in the draft.  I can hold off on my TE position then grab Olsen for solid production.  See Brandon LaFell's description as Olsen will benefit just as much from the Steve Smith double coverage.
